This is our international mini website. For further information, please visit our German pages or contact us. We are currently developing a mixture of ECMS and Application-Framework. It's called "secured WebGine".
The direct Netware Group uses its knowledge about bulletin boards and internet based services as well as information systems to provide an unified basic system.
The future use either it a commercial or an OpenSource one is of no importance. Our aim is to provide a "secure" basic system maybe a little bit comparable to the Linux Kernel. Companies and persons who are interested in helping are appreciated. We are constantly searching developers, "documentators" and translators.
More technical information is available in an incomplete handbook. The source code of a developer version is available. Everything is linked in the "Links" section below. Back to top 2. Our older projects
The last years the direct Netware Group was working on three projects.
The direct Bulletin Board, abbreviated as "dBB", was a bulletin board system based on the opinion, that compatibility and security is more important than database specific features. For this reason the dBB was able to use a filesystem based storage as well as an database one. The latest version, v1.50a, provided similar features to other products. The dBB has been published in five versions. Source code of v1.50a2 is licensed as LGPL; Project canceled
Another field of activity was the "> internet > Operation System". Using PHP and JavaScript we wanted to provide a solution compatible to up-to-date browsers. Unfortunately this milestone had not been reached mainly because Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Opera had inadequate or faultily support for the common DOM specification (Document Object Model). The project has only reached an internal alpha development stage. The result is licensed as GPL. Source code of the latest build is available; Project canceled
The next project of the direct Netware Group was mainly targeted at PHP developers. A program, called "NetInstaller Technology" provided the possibility to unify installations and simplify them. The "NetInstaller Technology", including all technologies required by developers to build the installer, was published in eight versions. Regrettably, two problems arose. We were unable to find a solution for the SAFE mode of PHP and developers were not interested in using or providing help for a PHP based installer, needing only two files to work (an installation script and an package). The direct Netware Group decided to stop development until its worth to continue development. Source code is available; Project currently stopped Back to top 3. About the direct Netware Group
The direct Netware Group is a non-commercial project. We think that its easier for a larger project than an individual to protect the rights against interests like so called software patents. All projects are available as open source products and were developed on a voluntary basis. Back to top 4. Links
